Signs of Moisture and Next Steps …
1-800 WATER DAMAGE of South Central New Jersey was requested to inspect a property in Manalapan, NJ, through the MRP program after signs of a possible water-related issue were discovered. Our Project Manager visited the property to evaluate the affected area, determine the extent of the damage, and identify the steps needed to prevent the situation from becoming more serious.

Leak Detection, Structural Drying, Mold Prevention, and Property Repairs

During the inspection, professional moisture-detection equipment was used to check the surrounding walls, flooring, and other building materials. Elevated moisture levels were identified within the affected area, confirming that water had traveled beyond what was immediately visible. Because hidden moisture can continue to damage materials and create conditions that support mold growth, our team recommended beginning the mitigation process as soon as possible.
The first step was to locate and address the source of the leak so that no additional water could enter the area. Once the source had been identified, our technicians carefully removed damaged materials that could not be safely cleaned, dried, or restored. The work area was contained and protected to help limit dust, debris, and possible contaminants from spreading into unaffected portions of the property.

After the damaged materials were removed, professional air movers and dehumidification equipment were placed throughout the affected area. This equipment was used to remove moisture from the air and surrounding structural materials. Moisture levels were monitored during the drying process to confirm that the area was drying properly and that hidden dampness was not being left behind.
The exposed surfaces were then thoroughly cleaned and treated with an antimicrobial solution to help reduce the risk of mold and bacterial growth. These preventative steps were especially important because mold can begin developing when moisture remains trapped behind walls, beneath flooring, or within other porous materials.
Once the affected area reached acceptable moisture levels, our team prepared the property for the restoration phase. The removed materials were replaced as needed, and the damaged area was repaired to help return it to its pre-loss condition. Throughout the project, 1-800 WATER DAMAGE of South Central New Jersey worked carefully to protect the Manalapan property, minimize additional damage, and provide the homeowner with a clean, dry, and safely restored space.
