Meet Gene Harvey, the owner of 1-800 WATER DAMAGE of Lexington County
Tell us a little about yourself?
I was born and grew up in Charleston, SC. I graduated from the University
of South Carolina and stayed there after graduation. Over the last 20+
years, I had worked for banks, mortgage, and insurance companies, but
there was always something missing.
I was married in my early 20’s, however, my wife passed away in 2013
after a 5 year battle with breast cancer. Shortly thereafter, I left the
corporate world and went out on my own, flipping houses, becoming a REALTOR,
and managing other successful businesses.
I believe my relationship with 1-800 WATER DAMAGE is the next logical step
in my career.
What is your WHY?
My boys are my WHY! I have two boys, Hunter (21) attending The Citadel,
and Tyler (16) a sophomore at Chapin High School. We have a small family,
so my boys are why I do everything.
There is an additional goal of being able to start a charity organization
to provide funding and support to those fighting cancer and promote cancer
awareness in memory of my late wife.
What led you to 1-800 WATER DAMAGE?
I had been looking for a business or franchise to purchase for several
years. I explored several ideas, but during the due diligence process
with 1-800 WATER DAMAGE, I quickly came to realize the restoration industry
and this company was a great choice to pursue many reasons.
What stood out about the brand to you?
I have been continually impressed by the professionalism and detail in
all aspects of the business. Having been through discussions with a competitor,
I can honestly say, the people, processes, and enthusiasm at the corporate
office of 1-800 WATER DAMAGE are unequaled.
As potential clients look at your business, why would they use you over
That’s a simple question Customer Service. It is a simple formula.
Do what you say you are going to do and then actually do it. Communication
is also a key factor, especially when a person has had a disaster occur
in their home. We are not looking at it as a simple job. We work as if
we are starting a long term relationship with each person.
Disasters don’t always occur, but if we can make a lasting impression
with the service we provide during a water damage clean-up, mold remediation,
or sewage clean-up, our customers will tell their friends, family, and
neighbors about us.
